“Family winery that has accumulated the experience of three generations making wines in San Asensio, heart of the Rioja Alta and cradle of great wines of recognized prestige. We elaborate the wines from a careful selection of grapes from both the vineyards of the family farm and selected farmers in the town. Tradition and modernity form an indissoluble bond when it comes to making our wines in order to satisfy the demanding palates of our clients. In a guided tour through the vineyards and the winery we show you the highlights of the world of the vine as well as the processes of elaboration, bottling and aging of the wines. In the winery you can taste and acquire all our wines as well as a wide variety of typical products of the area. We make special prices for excursions!”

In 1988 and at the foot of the national road 232 in the town of San Asensio, traditional area of ​​great wines in La Rioja, Agustín Fernández Gasco continued his journey in the world of wines and decided to build the Afersa wineries to continue obtaining wines from the highest quality.

Our family winery is located in an unbeatable geographical environment with wonderful views of the Ebro Valley and surrounded by its own vineyards, as well as important architectures of great tourist interest, Monastery of Sta. Mª de la Estrella, Castillo de Davalillo…

The challenge of the Fernández Villaro family is to continue investing in improving the facilities in order to offer their clients the best services, betting on a sustained growth based on quality and know-how.

Our vineyards are in the municipality of San Asensio, one of the most prestigious areas of La Rioja. The winery is supplied with its own vineyards (50%) and the rest is purchased from private farmers who are permanently advised on the work to be done in their vineyards.

Days before the beginning of the harvest, an exhaustive control of the grapes is done to determine the ideal moment of their harvest, as well as the quality to be selected.
