From October 14 to 18, 2019, the 6th edition of Spain Top Wines grand tasting was held in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. 50 Spanish wineries, including 15 from D.O.Ca. Rioja, attended the grand tasting presenting wines over 90 points from Robert Parker and Guía Peñín.
The tasting attracted attention from both inside and outside the wine industry, including a large number of visitors such as importers, distributors, media, wine educators and sommeliers.
Throughout the event, the visibility and awareness of Rioja was significantly raised, and the business opportunities of Rioja wine in China were further developed.
One of the most popular events during the tasting were the Rioja masterclasses conducted in the 3 cities by the Spanish Master of Wine Mr. Pedro Ballesteros MW. The topic was the Diversity and Greatness in Rioja: classic and new styles. With a selection of 10 premium Rioja wines, the more than 330 guests gained a deep understanding of Rioja, the historic and prestigious wine region.
Also, an exclusive Rioja dinner was held in the 3 cities, with local media, wine educators and other KOL invited, in order to enhance the communication of Rioja wines in China.
