Last month, Rioja welcomed a visit from six renowned Chinese guests, including KOLs in travel and gastronomy, wine industry experts, and Rioja ambassadors. These distinguished visitors embarked on a week-long in-depth tour and visit, with a diverse array of activities designed to immerse them fully in the wine culture and local charm of Rioja.
Throughout their week-long itinerary, the guests toured the Rioja Consejo to gain insights into the quality guarantee and regulatory framework of Rioja wines. They also visited several prestigious Rioja wineries, witnessing firsthand the wine-making process and experiencing the tradition and innovation of Rioja wines. In addition, the guests tasted a variety of Rioja’s fine wines and local delicacies, enjoying the distinctive wine tourism that the Rioja has to offer.
Wine tourism in Rioja has seen rapid growth in recent years, with approximately 202 wineries in the region open to the public, offering a range of wine tourism products such as wine therapy, exhibitions, and gourmet tastings and wine pairing, providing visitors with a rich array of experiences. The three sub-regions of Rioja—Rioja Alavesa, Rioja Alta, and Rioja Oriental—each boast their own unique wine routes, offering a variety of tourist experiences.
